My Work
Working predominantly with acrylic open paint, my tools of choice are palette knives, squeegees, and other mark-making tools. Most of my abstract painting is intuitive where images and ideas emerge as I work. I like to mix things up as well, especially with landscape abstracts, where I am sometimes more intentional and start with a direction for my piece. I love to work in series - allowing ideas and paint to flow over several substrates at once. I always work in layers, adding and subtracting details, until the final painting emerges.

Four Directions

All four pieces are 12x12 on birch panel on 1" shadow box white frame. Mixed media (Acrylic, Collage, Charcoal). $350 CAD each.

I have always loved integrating charcoal into my acrylic works, but this was the first time that I have used collage as well. Mountains tend to show up in my work a great deal - likely because I live so close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Alberta. These pieces speak to my love of travel - so many directions to travel in. But I always love to come home!
Home and Away

Home
Away
Both pieces are 36x24 on 1.5" canvas. Acrylic. $600 CAD each.
In the last couple of years, circles and swoops have started to show up in my work. I love the flow and energy of connection they bring out. These two pieces also speak to my love of travel and adventure with my contentment and peace upon returning home. (I am also a big fan of Blue Jays baseball - so there is a little homage to that in the titles!).
